The Challenge

how do we build a thriving makers community in Nigeria?

GIZ through their Make-IT Africa are focused on supporting tech start-ups in the early growth phase. As part of this ambition, they are running an ecosystem meetup series is to create a community of actors who are all invested in the growth and development of programs, activities, and policies, that encourage or influence collaboration and meaningful partnerships between entrepreneurs, government agencies, and companies seeking to promote innovation in Nigeria.

The Solution

Our insight process was to seek the opinions of technology practitioners, start up founders, and most importantly the makers communities themselves on the composition, needs and opportunities within the Nigerian makers community. This approach is important as it allowed us provide a deep understanding of the unique character of the Nigerian makers community and provide opportunities for makers and supporting stakeholders to share ideas and learn from best practices
