At IO STUDIO, We Use Interactive Media to Highlight and Solve Nigeria's Social-Cultural Issues.

Inside Out Mobile Studio is a travelling multimedia platform created by Made Culture, a project management and development consultancy creating solutions to some of Africa’s most pressing challenges. The IO Studio works innovatively with educational and interactive media content, highlights social, cultural, and environmental issues in Nigeria and campaigns on how to solve them.

Why VAWG?

This year, the studio focused on the issue of violence against women and girls (VAWG), deploying a participatory communication and arts-based approach for evidence-building and driving social change in Alimosho and Ikorodu, both rural areas in Lagos State, Nigeria.

Why VAWG? Gender based violence is a global plague that has resulted in a wide range of challenges, especially for women and girls. From community to community, violence against women and girls continues to increase resulting in very sad statistics.

Across Nigeria and the rest of the world, women go through different forms of abuse from their partners, acquaintances and even strangers. This affects their physical, sexual, and mental wellbeing, but all of that is preventable.

Given the dire situation in Nigeria and Lagos, the Inside Out Mobile Studio by Made Culture brought together Women’s Rights Organizations, community stakeholders, monitoring and evaluation specialists, communications experts and victims within the target communities to implement a Participatory Theater for Change intervention in order to learn ways to solve the identified issues.

Violence against women and girls is a global challenge, but just how badly do you think it affects Nigeria? Test your knowledge about VAWG in Nigeria.
